It may not always feel like it, but your future is in your hands,
and you have what it takes to create the future you actually want.

You know this isn’t the way it’s supposed to have turned out.

You had a dream, way back in the day, but somewhere along the way the waters got muddied.  And as the murk surrounded you, that dream took a back seat, until it had slipped so far into the gloom it was out of sight.

I get it.  More than you know.

Life took over, you made some decisions that took you down different roads from the ones you’d envisaged, and now you are where you are.

Stuck.  Discontent. Painting on smiles.  Making like it’s all sunshine and rainbows.  All the while trapped in a bed you made, slowly resigning yourself to a future where your only option is to lie in it and try and stay afloat.

Like I said, I get it.   I’ve been in that exact same place.

But turns out I was wrong.

You see, when the wheels flew off my life in April 2000, here’s what I discovered: in all the murk, there is good news: this is not as good as it gets.

That bed you made for yourself? You don’t have to lie in it.  Unless, that is, you choose to.

You see, you do have other options. You always have choices.

The question is, what will you choose?

Will you choose the status quo?

To just suck it up, curl up in this uncomfortable bed you’ve made for yourself, and grind out the rest of your days?

Or, will you choose change?

Because that dream that’s slipped so far into the gloom you can no longer see – it’s still there.  In fact, there may even be other dreams back there, out-of-sight, too – dreams you haven’t even dared consider in your ‘stuckness’ and discontent.

And you can reclaim and recover those dreams.  Reshape them.  Revive them.  Reignite them.  Turn them into living, breathing reality.

So, will you choose to not just step out of that bed, but to break it apart and consign it firmly to history, and build a new future – a future that you actually want?

And here’s the thing...

You don’t need to go looking for someone to give you the answers.

Seriously, you don’t need someone to tell you what to do, or give you the answers to overcome the obstacles you face.  You already know what to do, and you already have the answers, you maybe just don’t realise it yet.

OK, but what exactly is coaching?

Good question.  But perhaps the best way to answer the ‘what is coaching?’ question is to begin by setting out what it isn't.

First up, don't fall into the trap of thinking that a coach is going to 'teach' you anything.

Let's be clear: coaching is not training, nor is it teaching. You see, training and teaching are about you learning something specific from someone else who (hopefully) knows more than you do about it. In the coaching relationship, you are the expert.

And coaching is not mentoring.

Sure, coaching and mentoring may get uttered in the same sentence a lot, but they are very different things. Mentoring is about tackling specific issues with the help of a mentor – someone who is an expert, and has usually been where you are and is prepared to show you how they got through it. And, like I just said, in the coaching relationship, you are the expert.

And coaching is absolutely not counselling or therapy. Not even close.

Counselling and therapy often deal in the past before exploring the future. And, usually, they're focused on achieving some level of healing from past trauma. Coaching doesn’t deal in healing.  In fact, it assumes you are well, at the start line and ready (maybe even eager) to move forward, rather than needing to be brought to the start line in the first place.

Finally coaching is not consultancy.

Yes, consultancy is about solving problems, just like coaching, but, unlike coaching, consultancy as all about someone else solving those problems for you: someone else giving you the answers.  And, like I already said, you don’t need someone to give you answers, you need someone to help you find the answers you already have.

Good point.  So, let me tell you.

Coaching is a relationship. A partnership, if you like, between your coach and you.

And, in that partnership, your coach brings a set of skills and an approach that is focused on getting you the results that you want. But in terms of actually bringing those results to life, you are the expert. Where your coach brings skills and an approach, you bring unrivalled expertise about you.

You see, no-one knows you, or your situation, like you.

No-one is in a position to tell you what you need, or want, out of life - only you can do that. And no-one knows the obstacles and challenges you face better than you.

So, you bring expertise to the relationship, and your coach brings what’s needed to help you unlock and direct that expertise, enabling you to clearly define the outcomes you want, the steps you need to take to achieve those outcomes, and the barriers you will need to overcome along the way.

Working alongside each other, as a team, you and your coach will bring that outcome you see in your mind's eye - a life where your stresses and strains are tamed and under control, and the future you are building is a future you actually want - to life.

Simply put, coaching is about enabling the change you want.

And about supporting you to embrace and shape that change, and building the capacity for you to achieve the change that you want.

The only way to find out if coaching is the right next step for you is to explore the possibilities. S0, let's fix up a time for a coffee and a conversation, and let's meet (virtually, of course).

Just click (or tap) "LET'S TALK" and set up a time convenient to your schedule. No pressure, no sales pitch, no obligation - just a chance to unpack where you are right now, where you want to be, and what's stopping you getting it, so that you can see if coaching is right for you

OK, so far so good, but how does all that shake out on the ground?

For more than two decades, I've been helping people spin plates effectively by equipping them with the tools and techniques to understand, tame and manage their stress, so that they can build a clear picture of the future they want, and actually make that future a reality.

So, I guess you could say I've been 'coaching' for more than 20 years. And, no matter who I've been working with, or what they have brought to the table, the aim has always been the same - to help those people find their own solutions to overcome the obstacles they face and achieve the outcomes they long for.

And, I've done that through one-to-one sessions, and focused coaching programmes. Let me explain what both of those options look like...

As the name suggests, one-to-one coaching sessions are all about you.

Focused on you, driven by you, and shaped by you, it's a conversation dedicated to delivering the outcome you are seeking.

And, as your coach, I simply provide the space, the challenges, the questions and, yes, the process, to help you uncover the things you already have within you to give you the solutions you are seeking.

Usually, but not always, one-to-one sessions tackle immediate goals or issues, and they have a very clear end-point - the goal you set out right at the start. We may get there in one session, or it may take several - that depends on what it is you want to achieve.

Coaching programmes build on the one-to-one sessions and take you to the next level.

Big LIfe Coaching's programmes extend what you get from one-to-one sessions with focused interventions (basically exercises you can do to achieve breakthroughs, reinforce discoveries, and so on), tools, and resources tailored specifically to you and the outcome you want to achieve to support your progress towards it.

And those programmes can be one-to-one, or they can be done as a part of group, depending on what you want, and how you want to achieve it.

You can give yourself a head-start with a short, sharp group 'accelerator' programme

Accelerator programmes quickly propel you to the next level in your adventure to build the life you want. It's intense, I won't lie. It's hard work, and it requires 100% commitment. But the results are astounding.

You see, there's something about working in a group of like-minded people, just as determined as you are to shake up the status quo, throw off everything that has kept them locked in a life they know they aren't meant to be living, and begin building the future they have, deep down, always wanted.

I like to think of these programmes as a sprint: they don't take you as far as a long-distance runner might go, but man do they get you where you are headed faster.

And, just because every programme needs a catchy name, I call this the 'Ascent Programme'.

Then there's the 'Premium' programme.

This one-to-one coaching programme takes the accelerator programme and adds a dose of long-distance endurance. Not only does the Premium Coaching Programme (or, if you want to refer to it by its catchy name, the 'Zenith Programme') help you to reach the next level of your adventure right now by employing all of the principles of the Accelerator Programme, it also equips you to keep on pushing through the levels long into the future you have dreamed of.

Including self-study elements, mastermind groups, webinars, workshops and, of course, one-to-one and group coaching sessions, this programme leaves no stone unturned and delivers results that last.

You want results

No matter how you get there, or how long it takes, you aren't getting coached for fun: you are getting coached so you can build the future you want.

And Big Life Coaching's one-to-one coaching sessions and coaching programmes deliver.

Every time.

And the philosophy that ensures that success is not complex: do the work, get the results. Simple.

Fantastic! Let's talk. Click or tap "LET'S TALK", pick a slot in my diary that works for you, and let's sit down and get to know each other over a virtual mug of coffee.

You can explain where you are at right now, what's stopping you from being where you want to be, and, of course, where that it. And I'll show you where coaching can (and can't) help you achieve the outcome you want. No pressure or obligation. And definitely no sales pitches.

Alright, but so what?

OK, I get it, you want to take a look under the hood before you do anything.

You've heard what you are going to get from coaching with me, and the options available for how you might go about that coaching. I mean, coaches are ten-a-penny, so why should you work with me?

Well, I could bore you with my CV. I could bombard you with my credentials. But you're smarter than that - let's face it, every coach worth his or her salt has the CV to back up the claims and the credentials to underpin what they do, right?

So I won't do that.

Instead, I'll tell you about the parts that make Big Life Coaching different.

The parts that separate what I do, and how I do it, from other coaching. The parts that make sure you wring every last drop of benefit out of our time together as you reap the rewards of your efforts and achieve the results you want.

And what are those parts?

Well, in short, I make the focus finding solutions, not analysing problems, I add a dash of our secret sauce, and a dose of reality, and blend it all up to create a powerful mix that powers your progress.

And that mix delivers. Every time.

So, What Does a Focus on Solutions Look Like?

Getting bogged down in the problem is not how you get results.

Simple fact of life: problems will always be a part of it. From the irritations like running out of milk to the life-changing scenarios like a health crisis, redundancy or a relationship breakdown, for example, problems are a constant feature in your day-to-day life.

So, can you tell me one time when focusing on the problem fixed anything? A time when understanding the insides and outs of the issue resolved it? My guess is that a problem-focused just dragged you further into the mire.

Which is why I focus on solutions, not problems

The thing is, there are all sorts of coaching processes and methodologies out there. Some coaches go all in on one process, others blend a range of processes. I take the blend-it approach.

You see, I know that you are unique. And that means that the outcomes you want are unique.

So, the approach we take embraces your uniqueness, and works with it, rather than forcing you into an approach that simply doesn't fit.

Which is why I don't pigeon hole how I do what I do, or constrain the flow of coaching sessions, or align my approach to one specific coaching philosophy.

But, like I said a moment ago, I focus on solutions. So, at the heart of every session is a solutions-focused philosophy that underpins everything we do together.

Sure, we'll use different tools, methods, approaches and techniques at different times, according the direction we are taking at that time. But through it all, a solutions-focused coaching approach will be present.

Which, in a nutshell, means that we put all analysis to one side, accept the problem exists, and deal with it to give you the outcome you want.

And What's All That About a Secret Sauce?

Just like a chef's signature dish, my coaching has a little bit of something special that makes it stand out from the rest.

And standing out from the rest doesn't make my coaching better than everything else out there. That's not how coaching works, and definitely not how you should judge your coaching options - every coach is different, every coach's approach is different, and you need the coach, and approach, that will give you what you want

Which is why you need to know what it is that makes my approach different, so you can figure out if its a good fit for you.

And that thing that makes it different? that'll be the 'secret sauce'

More than twenty years' coaching is plenty of time to discover what works, what doesn't, and what sprinkles that little bit of magic into a coaching session to create the difference between making some progress and going all the way.

And those things that sprinkle the little bits of magic are what goes into the Big Life Coaching 'Secret Sauce' (which, if I'm being honest, isn't really that secret).

The 'Secret Sauce' has five key ingredients:

A focus on strengths. A focus on values. A focus on Positive Psychology. A focus on Goal Mapping. And a focus on Mental Fitness.

And every time I mix up the sauce, I use the balance of ingredients that you need to get the results that you want.

But, whether it's equal measures of each, or a little more or less of one or two particular ingredients, each one of those elements come together to give you a unique coaching journey that provides the opportunity for you to not simply truly discover the direction you want to take, and how to achieve the outcome you want, but to actually follow-through and take that outcome from wishful thinking to reality.

And WHAT WAS THAT Thing About a Dose of Reality?

Key to getting the most out of your coaching adventure is to know what to expect, and to expect the right things.

People usually end up disappointed with coaching for one of two reasons.

First, the process and approach simply didn't work for them - it didn't fit who they were, and wasn't appropriate for achieving the outcomes they wanted.

And second, they were set up to fail with unrealistic expectations of what coaching is, and what it could do for them.

By now you know that my approach is totally focused on providing an experience that fits who you are and what you want.

But that not only helps you achieve the outcomes you are looking for, it also ensures you are super clear on what to expect from our time together.

You go into every coaching session, whether it's a one-to-one session, or part of a programme, knowing exactly what to expect.

You know the format your session will take, the process we will follow, what you will get from me (and what I expect from you), as well as what extras you can look forward to along the way.

And that means there no surprises, no let downs, no missed opportunities. Just results.

One Last Thing...

Successful coaching relies on the creation of a safe and secure space

And that's why I work to stringent standards and guidelines. It's why I have oversight and accountability as a coach, and stay on top of my own professional development. Sure, that keeps me at the top of my game; but, more than that, it ensures you know what you are getting.

Every element of the coaching sessions and programmes I offer is carefully wrapped inside a code of ethics that ensures you always feel safe, secure and able to explore your most heartfelt dreams and toughest challenges in your coaching sessions.

Big Life Coaching subscribes and operates to the Global Code of Ethics, as well as International Coaching Federation (ICF) standards, so you can rest easy in the knowledge that your coaching experience is underpinned by the highest standards in the industry.

By now, you can see that coaching is something that will enable to call time on all of the tings that have been holding you back from pursuing the life you know you were made ot live, put yourself well and truly in control of your day-to-day life, and build the future you want. But you've got questions. Probably lots of them.
